Still, that's an amazingly low price. It doesn't take much to put new grill cloth on the frames.
As long as all the drivers are OK it's going to make a fantastic system for someone that lives near there. Or really, really likes to drive. -
How do these compare against 1.2tl?

Are those grilles on backwards?
Yeah it looks like they are on backwards. The grille faces should be angled outwards not inwards but there is a grey area as to how the SRT emblems are supposed to be placed. If you look at the picture in the Polk ad it appears that the grille half with the emblem should go on the side of the satellites that the tweeters are on.
(See Pic)
Each satellite is labelled "right" and "left" on the backs. When setup that way the tweeters are on the sides closest to the center (where the receiver would be). That means the SRT emblems should also be on the inner halves.
But if you look at the SRT instruction manual, it shows the emblems on the other side. The exact opposite of the photo.
(See Pic)
Here's a question for the SRT owners on the forum. If you look on the backs of your satellites and place the one labelled "right" on the right hand side as you would be facing them and do the same for the one labelled "left", are the tweeters on the sides of the satellites closest to the center?
Mine are. -
I keep wondering if these are the $500 set of SRTs that I saw disappear from Craigslist in front of my eyes. Then the next day, another guy posts this set of SRTs. Could it be he's trying to make a quick $1250? I just find it unlikely that two sets of SRTs would show up within a day of each other, both in the Denver area. It could be coincidence though...

I'm guessing you're right and it's a flip. Jeez, $500 for SRTs? Too bad you missed that.audio_alan said:I keep wondering if these are the $500 set of SRTs that I saw disappear from Craigslist in front of my eyes. I need to get rid of a bunch of speakers right now.
Even then, they are too big for my place.

It was down to $1400.
It's gone now.
Anyone here got them?

Not I. At $1750, or even $1400, I just don't have the room for them. At $500, it would have been a conviction buy and I would have made room for them!

Man, I've seen like 3 sets of SRTS go for less than 2k now in the last 6 months! Geeze..fire sale time apparently! Still trying to buy myself a set! Everyone keeps beating me to them or they just straight up disappear!Too many good quotes to list..waiting for some fresh ammo.
-
Got mine about 6 months ago. They are UNREAL! Best effortless bass and experience. Was thinking about getting some tactile transducers but the subs already do that for my room! A 15 year old dream fulfilled and am not disappointed!
-
Hey Shueher, was that one of the sets on ebay this year? I saw two get listed on there and bid on one. I may have potentially found myself a set finally! I would love to find the SRT surrounds though, but they're much harder to findToo many good quotes to list..waiting for some fresh ammo.

Hi, i have rt5000 p and i would like to buy Srt system. Is it already on sale ? Is it possibile to shipping in italy ?

It does seem like more sets have been available lately. I know it took me years to track down the set I had. I was amazed that the original owner still had all of the original boxes for them. It is one of those sets of speakers that you really don't want to move around with you unless you are committed and you can properly protect them because parts just aren't available.____________________________________________________________

Dpowell,
That's the thing that has always scared me away from the SRTs. It's not that I move frequently, but that parts go bad, and there just aren't the replacements. I'd love to hear a set, and there have been a couple sets available in my state in the last few years, but I just can't do it. I live in fear of something happening to the passives on my SRSs or 1.2TLs as it is...SDA SRS, SDA SRS1.2TL, SDA-1C,SDA 2B, Soundcraftsmen Amplification (A5002s, MA5002s, MA5002As) -

I think the SRT amps are pretty-robust but if all else fails they can be rebuilt just like the RT3000s can. I got my awesome SRT set for dirt cheap because the spiders were loose on the subwoofer drivers which made them sound like they were blown with a loud "rattle". The seller thought the same thing you did. He thought there were no parts available for them and would cost too much to repair. So I drove my Chevy Express cargo van to Chicago and picked them up for $1200 complete with control center.
The Polk customer service was like a dream come true. They repaired the drivers for free. I replaced the electrolytic capacitors in the amps for good measure and now they sound out of this world!! I couldn't be happier.
The cabinets are real nice with just a few nicks and all the grills are nice too. Then I scored a second control center with an NOS remote control on eBay and now have my dream system for less than $1500. I highly doubt I'll find another as nice for anywhere near that price but you can never tell.
I would expect just about every SRT sub driver out there to have the same problem mine did. That's why you can score them as cheap as you can. The sellers think they are unloading them when in reality they can be repaired quite easily.
Just like the RT3000s though, finding sets with nice cabinets and grills can be challenging. I find it incredible how some people abused the hack out of their expensive Polk speakers. If all else fails though, they can usually be refinished and made to look decent again. -
