Possible Connection - Coffee & Tinnitus

Thought I'd pass this along. I know it says "in women" but I think it's because the study was only on women, not that the same connection might not be made in men.

He and his and colleagues found that regardless of age, rates of tinnitus were 15% lower among women who consumed 450-599 mg a day of caffeine, compared with women who drank less than 150 mg a day (about one and a half 8-ounce cups of coffee).

I drink tons of coffee, and I can say it hasn't helped me one bit. Matter of fact, probably makes it worse.HT SYSTEM-

Interesting. I actually stopped drinking caffeine because it was making my ears worse. I wasn't just getting tinnitus, I have a problem with my ears that makes me dizzy sometimes, but thats definitely worse when I have caffeine.

I use to drink regular coffee, now drink decaf...go through about a pot a day(mostly in the a.m.) and I see no difference between the 2. Kinda interesting to note that my tinnitus did not become noticable until I started drinking coffee....hmmm.
I wish there was something that could be done, it would be nice to actually hear silence againYep, my name really is Bob.

Given that half of these findings are faked by researchers looking for funding,
I'd not really take it seriously. The old artificial sweetener bans were based
on complete nonsense. And a lot of other studies have been debunked as well."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

Would be better as a satirical cartoon series like Ren and Stimpy.
Coffee and Tinnitus on Adult Swim. A winner!

beer and the volume control - my cause of tinnitus.

LOL I haven't shaved my beard since I got It in & I was 27. took me 27 to grow it and next year I will have had it for 27 years

I've shaved mine off a few times over the years, but I have one about 99.7263% of the time because I hate to shave.
And now, back to caffeine and tinnitus... -
There is a company or product that has been advertizing on the local radio about a pill that is suppose to help with Tinnitus and 1 of my co-workers ask why I don't give them a call... cause it sounds like a scam...it would be different if it was something you could buy in the store or from a pharmacy. I ask my doctor once if he could turn off that ringer in my ear? he just laugh and said sorry you out of luck there.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

I'll tell ya what works for me though, limited results as it is. Diet....when I eat less sugary substances, less caffeine, the extent of that ringing in the ears seem lessoned. Unfortunately I'm a foodie that loves desserts too along with a pot of coffee in the morning, so I put up with it.
I've certainly noticed a loss of hearing as I aged, the ringing only compounds that. One other thing I've noticed audio related is that since hearing certain frequencies seem harder as we age, we seem to become more acute on the ones we can hear. Kinda like how they say when you lose one of your senses, the others become more acute, kinda make up for it. Anyone else notice that little phenomena ?HT SYSTEM-

What you have is Vertigo, if you suffered from motion sickness as a kid you will most likely have vertigo when you get older. I make sure that I always have chewable Meclizine with me since I never know when it will strike. Now a days it will usually happen when I'm having trouble with my sinuses. I'll take the Meclizine for a few days and it clears right up.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2
