Soundbar as a center channel speaker?

I have a home theater system currently configured with (2) Polk Monitor 70 Towers, (2) Polk Monitor 30 (rear, wall mounted) a Polk M10 as a center channel speaker and a Velodyne DSP-10 Sub-woofer.
I have 2 questions: (1) my current center channel speaker works great, but is not ergonomic with my new console. I want to replace it with speaker shaped like a soundbar, to mount under my 70" Sharp LCD. What Polk product would be best? (2) I have a second Polk M-10 not in use. How much of a benefit would it be to mount the (2) M-10 speakers in the room's center to have a 8 speaker configuration as opposed to just 6?
I know it is on the lowerend; but I am using a Sony multi-channel receiver/amp # STA DH720HP , one other comment is that the Velodyne sub seem to over power the system. I have to set it at it's lowest output setting or the foundation of the house starts to crumble watching Independence Day.
Room dimensions - Square 20'x20', 10' ceilings
All comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help. David
