Well after getting my AN S2 step up and being Extremely Happy with my sound, I decided to use the other outputs on my VTL 5.5 to feed a power sub which was fine when I was using just one rca connected to the sub.
My issue started after using a splitter using both left and right outputs from the VTL running into a single rca to the sub and doing it just before I went to bed after I powered off my gear..
Next power up I'm listening to my TT and I notice it does not sound as good as the night before so now I'm changing out interconnects and moving my speakers to all different positions, now been doing this for two weeks and getting very frustrated..
Last night still frustrated I goto move the balance knob to the left as the right speaker is more noticeable and nothing happens going from left to right with the balance knob, well just a little decrease nothing much, so I'm thinking my unhappy sound is VTL related, so I check the interconnects on the back and notice I'm using the splitter, so just out of curiosity I unplug one side of the splitter and BANG I heard everything magical come back..
Stupid rca splitter giving me a heart attack for the last two weeks...
The thing I can't understand is why does using a splitter coming from a left and right output cause a balance issue like that if it's only feeding my sub?
There are 4 outputs on my VTL 5.5 pre I'm using 2 for the left and right mono blocks and I was using just a single rca for one of the left over outputs and it was fine..
I figured if I used a splitter to get both left and right feeding the sub it would be better..
I figured wrong, only I had forgotten I did that,
