While listening this morning to some mellow music I put both Jessie Colin Young's solo Song Bird and the Young Bloods Rock Festival albums on. The Rock Festival album is kinda special to me becuse I'm on the back album cover in a large crowd shot but clearly visable. This past May was the 43rd anniversary of the Spring Weekend Music Festival @ SUNY New Paltz held Memorial Day weekend. We called it a mini Woodstock because of the crowd and it was a 2 day affair. Saturday IIRC was Sonny Terry and Brownie Mcphee, The YoungBloods and Hot Tuna. Sunday was the Jefferson Airplane and Joe Cocker and the Mad Dogs and Englishmen w/ about 30 people on stage w/ backup singers, horn players, keyboard, Rita Coolidge, Leon Russell as band leader and playing both piano and a great black Gibson Standard Les Paul guitar. This was the last time I saw Leon till last July 2013 as he opened for Hot Tuna. So hopefully the picture will come out w/ the guiding arrow and if not I'm the guy 2 people to the right of that blonde guy also my friend. Putting it a different way from the middle of the media box find the blonde dude and then you we see me w/ an acid grin and open shirt. New Paltz was called the Berkley of the east and had a heavy party reputation as well puttng on great shows both in the gym in the winter and shows out in the fields in spring. Oh, the music on the album was not from this day. Some people say I'm on the Todd Rundgren Central Park cover as well but never found it.
