I have both now in my ht after my lightening fiasco a couple months back....which one you figure would offer better coax protection.....my guess is the 5100, but possibly your coax lines are either protected or not with no difference between the 2. (?)

My guess would be that both offer the same exact coaxial protection."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

You are correct sir....I just pulled the spec sheets and they are the same.

Its the power filtering and all that jazz thats different.
If you need just a coaxial surge protection, I may be able to recommend something that will give you just that. That way your good regardless. You also want to protect any phone lines you have, etc...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I have a phone line connected to my dish receiver so caller id shows up on my TV. Gotta be able to distinguish the telemarketers from the ladies. When I connected the phone line into my power conditioner and then to my dish receiver, the caller id no longer worked. Is that normal?

Dunno, you may want to contact Dish about that. I dont have a LAN line, but it doesnt surprise me you do . Do you still have a rotary phone as well that sits by your VCR .
P.S. I am just ribbing ya herm. Not intending to actually offend you, so if it is, let me know and I will cut it out."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." All good fun here! Can't get a cell signal here with the big hills that surround me. Rotary...good one! I can't call people's pagers with a rotary phone. No one ever answers my pages anymore.

Not even the ones that say Boobies ....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)
