Seller on craigslist is saying "Adcom GTP 870 HD in excellent condition" ... "less than 2 yrs old" comes with original box, power cord and remote. $475
Anyone have thoughts or concerns with this model, purportedly made in the past few years. I keep having bad luck trying to acquire equipment just to get my basic 3.1 Polk setup and Sony/Apple TV all together again. Still trying to get my "new" parasound amp repaired.

No input? Anything else used in the less than $800 range that I should look at instead of the Adcom pre?

hey Les
Don't really know anything about the GTP 870 hd, but I did see these reviews that you should read about!

I have a Adcom 5503 which I really love, still works great but its a older amp.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

Thanks for the link. Those are just some of the reviews I could find on the pre. Most other literature seems to be from when the pre was introduced nearly a decade ago. Reading the history of Adcom company, I'm less inclined to purchase anything used from them unless I could find a service manual first. So, amps only...
Oh well, my search continues for decent mid-range pre and power. -
I myself really like Adcom, but older amps and such can have Capacitor problems, but 2 reviews mention a bad board on the 870.
if you looking for a pre, I have Vincent SA-31 and Audio advisor has a specially price on a demo of it. for like $620

though a used preamp is the best way to save $$$ at a risk always...2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge
