I forgot to eat dinner and go to the bathroom when I got home.

Sitting at the front door was the 3 6EU7 tubes I needed to finish fixing an old Heathkit tube amp I found in the basement. My dad built it when he was 17...~40 years ago. It works like a charm! 10W x 2 but it's got some oomph!

I hooked up the Carver C-1 preamp and a Behringer tube based parametric EQ to the Heathkit amp with an Onkyo tuner and a 50 dollar DVD/CD player. I sat infront of a sprawling pile of tools, wires and gear on the living room floor for almost 4 hours. My **** is sore, my legs are stiff and I'm starvin' like marvin! But all I want to do is go back downstairs and listen some more but people are in bed.

With the 70 dollars for the tubes, the total cost for that stereo was about $505. Thing is, most of the equipment was the "biggest and best" at one point but its old or broken now and nobody but crazy people like me want it.

So is that the "passion" that is "missing"?

Yeah bro, that's more passion than the Zen queen will ever know.
