Who is better, Music Direct or Elusive Disc?
Is there any other company I am may be missing other than Amazon?

I have always been happy with elusivedisc. Not cheap, but no one is. They run occasional 10% sales. My suggestion is save stuff to your wish list, then buy when there's a sale. Spend over $99 and shipping is free.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Acoustic Sounds can be added to the list. Can't say any of the above are better than others as pricing tends to be pretty similar and service has been good from all of them for me.

Importcds.com is a good source. I've ordered lots of stuff from them and always been happy. Their prices tend to be better than most too.

Both are great, but I usually order from Music Direct.

Elusive disc customer service story for you. Ordered a VPI turntable from them about a year and a half ago. They could have just sent me the turntable and I would have been a satisfied customer. But they called me. Like..... On the phone! They told me that VPI would be releasing a new iteration of the turntable I had ordered, and asked if I'd prefer for them to hold the order for a few weeks so I would get the new turntable. Of course, I chose to do so! A few weeks later I had the newest revision, which I hadn't even known about.

Agreed I've made many purchases from Importcds.com. I've never had a problem and they have competive pricing.

I use both Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds. They both offer 10% discounts every long weekend (and free shipping over a certain amount). Save your stuff in a wish list like nspindel suggests and jump on the sales. It's more fun getting a pile of CDs at once anyway.

I've bought from cdjapan.com for several SHM-SACDs with good results.
