Can't figure out where the buzz/sizzle is coming from

will make it happen every time when it's cranked up to ear bleed levels.
In that case, I'd have to say your amps are clipping.Political Correctness'.........defined

Crossovers are the first thing that came to mind when I heard the noise with the new amp and heard it follow the speaker when I swapped them. The MC2205 has a 'hold' on the meters and I hear the nastiness well before clipping levels, but granted at very loud levels - and only with the most demanding source material.- Please don't clean up my mess. You'll only confuse me.

I think I'm going to keep the levels sane and continue to listen. They sound outstanding at the moment, levels are up, but the house isn't shaking.- Please don't clean up my mess. You'll only confuse me.

You shouldn't rely on those meters to give you anything close to an accurate idea of what's going on. Think of them as decorative eye candy.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ah, and what eye candy they are. It also has Power Guard - which I usually bypass - but have on for purposes of looking for the root cause. It detects a square wave and lowers output to reduce and supposedly eliminate distortion - but seriously doubt it. What it does do is light up and stay lit if it detects a square wave. And it hasn't even flickered. The Threshold has lamps that light up when it's asked to do more than it's capable of and it never lit up either. Last night I hooked up the Luxman M-300 to the 1Cs - it also has a distortion limiting circuit and the lamps lit up like a Christmas tree but the speakers never made the nasty noise. The more things I try the more bizarre things become.
F1, I want to believe it's clipping that makes the noise because that's a simple fix: 'turn it down'. But I can't prove it from my testing and without hooking up a scope in the circuit there's not much else I can try.
I don't have a scope but I'm trying to get my amp tech to make a house call and put this to rest. For anyone in the Southeast I can highly recommend Amp Works. Lynn has done work for people from Allison Krauss to Chuck Leavell, he's good, been at it since the 70s, prices his work fairly, and is as honest a man as I've ever met.- Please don't clean up my mess. On second thought, your buzz or sizzle may be compounded by your nifty Romex cables, ever consider that ? Maybe opportunity presents itself to try something different.HT SYSTEM-

I seriously doubt the noise is a result of, or compounded by, the cables. I've been using solid copper for more than a decade and this noise is new. That being said I do plan to do some comparisons with audio specific cables, for the sake of experimentation.- Please don't clean up my mess. You'll only confuse me.
