...hours spent trying to remove without busting the lug. tried spays, standing on t-lug wrench with pipe extension. Broke a socket. Finally found it on youtube. Needed 2 do it twice...but it worked

Enjoy

ps - not sure its safe to carry a torch in trunk. mine happened at home.

We should start a forum for "Helpfull Hints". Everybody has one.

Good tip, thanks. Another option is Loctite Freeze and Release.
    Copied from Loctite's website:
It's used to free rusted, corroded and seized parts. The shock-freezing effect will cool parts instantly down to -43 °C and cause microscopic cracks in the layer of rust. This allows the lubricating ingredients to wick directly into the rust by capillary action. Released parts remain lubricated and protected from corrosion.

As long as you don't touch the parts, this may be safer than high heat from a torch when heat damage may be a concern (outboard engines, lower units, hydraulic cylinders, etc.)

    The best and cheapest penetrant used by the auto restoration crowd is a 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. It beat PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench and even Kroil by a wide margin in controlled tests. To buy a small amount of acetone, just get a bottle of nail polish remover, just make sure it's the acetone variety! (C;

At work I use Magic Wrench from Jet-Lube, very good stuff. But that may be Canada only, not sure about availability south of the border.

When I was married, "nutcracker" referred to something else.

A killer penetrating oil we use at work is called "Aero Kroil". A guy from Otis Elevator gave us a can once and that's all we use now. We were having a tough time breaking some pipe fittings free using 4' pipe wrenches with cheaters until we soaked the fittings with AeroKroil then ..... smooth as silk.

Aero Kroil is just the aerosol version of Kroil. I fist found it [kroil] when I started shooting. Problem is with Kroil is that it does so well at creeping through small places/orifices is that it literally creeps out of the can at all the joints in the can itself.

We used to use LPS rust inhibitor spray(can't remember how it was actually labeled as LPS made various spray lube products and cleaners for industries.) Sometimes we had to use an impact driver with a socket and hit it with a 4lb. sledge hammer. Usually that would free up anything unless the threads were so corroded they'd just snap off . Spraying area extensively and letting soak over night also brought great results without having to go to impact mode. The Loctite Freeze and Release sounds interesting as well as the acetone ATF mix.

As much as i love Loctite, the tests i did with some customers with the freeze spray when it came out were sadly disappointing.I was hoping for better results.

It doesn't rust hear in Dallas.
Upstate New York- bleeding brakes was almost impossible.
They always broke off. Down here, easy.

...good input. i tried 2 different sprays and let them sit, then stood on a t-lug wrench with pipe that still would not give.. last resort before having it towed was the youtube version. saved me $80.00 tow fee. keep it in your library of fixes.

...also would recommend a 20" lug t-wrench in your trunk.

...never had a flat in this car and their was NO lug wrench.

...do new cars supply lug wrenches??

....it did have a scissor jack. never used.

...be aware of scams from tire company's. Got a fair deal from Merchants Tire. While waiting for install they informed me that i needed a $440.00 front brake job. Never had a sign of brake problems. Beware. Will have it checked by my mechanic. They love to prey on the elderly.

I ain't old even if i am retired.

My Mustang has no spare, jack, or lug wrench. Buying a set is on my radar.
Everything seems to be going to those mini-compressors with goo.
