I had read good things on this forum about the Jethro Tull: Live at Montreux 2003 DVD and yesterday a found it on sale at FYE for only $5.99. I bought it and watched the entire concert last night. Here are some of my impressions.
First, the video and audio on this release are stunning. I wish all concerts were filmed so well. The clarity and detail of the video are amazing and thankfully the director was not one of those MTV-era video directors who think that staying on a frame for 2 seconds is too long and have the camera jump all over the place. The director stays on the group (would have liked a few more audience shots but that is a minor thing) and lets one feel like one is right there watching the show live. The sound is also excellent; it comes through very clear and lively even through my plasma TV speakers.
Second, the concert is excellent. This is not the 1970s Jethro Tull of course but they still put on a great show. The show is roughly divided between a first half of mostly acoustic and mellower songs (Montreux is a jazz festival after all so the songs in the first half have more of a jazz feel to them) and a second half with the rock hits (Aqualung, etc).
I highly recommend this. And thanks to all those who mentioned this on the forum in earlier posts.
It really is excellent!

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm counting about 150 blu concerts to date, and this is still a top 5. -
Tornado Red: I am curious what other concert DVDs are in your top 5?

I was fortunate to buy this off the forum, very good indeed the first concert Blu ray I played on my new HT setup enjoyed the story how Martin Barre eats alone when they tour Ian Anderson is a performer and I consider this one of my favorites. I was wondering did you find anything else worthy of owning at that price?Home Theater

Like voltz said, hard to choose. Ha, so hard it morphed into a top 10... Looking at audio, video and overall concert likeability, in no particular order:
Muse - Live At Rome Olympic Stadium
BB King - Live At Montreux 1993
Joe Bonamassa - Live At The Beacon Theatre
Jeff Beck - Live At Ronnie Scott's
Jethro Tull - Live At Montreux 2003
The Eagles - Farewell 1 Concert
The Doobie Brothers - Live At Wolf Trap
Rush - Time Machine - Live From Cleveland
The Who - Quadrophenia - Live At The O2 Arena 2013
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Concerts - 25th Anniversary -

The price varies somewhat on the list I gave (the R&R Hall Of Fame is pricey in blu, for example). But for affordability, it's hard to beat any of the concerts done in Montreux. I believe Eagle Rock has the rights for all of the concerts from there, and they do a great job on most of them. And...their prices are usually in the $14 dollar range. I just picked up the ZZ Top 2013 concert from Montreux for under $14. -
