Recommend an AVR
I am in need of help with an avr, After reading many threads and other things I began to see there is alot more to an AVR then just plugging in speakers and inputs. I currently have TSX 550's a 150c and 4 220b's and two psw108's. The room is roughly 14 wide by 28 feet long. I am hoping to find an avr that has sufficient power to make these speakers work and reference levels. I have looked at Yamaha's v677 and the higher up model. Other then that I Would like to be pointed in the right direction. I want to spend around $1000.00 and try and future proof myself a little. I have read a little about separate amps and bi amping and bi wiring and I am now I am lost as to what is enough power and what isn't
Thank You
Thank You

The 10xx series is where they really step up in quality. Even if you have to get an older model, you should get a 1030, 1020, etc.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

That looks like a fantastic price on the Pioneer. Is it safe to buy from Amazon, or do you think BB will honor that price? -
I have used Anthem mrx 300's fs, just add an amp and your rockin.

Look in the small print under the part# "by Pioneer" so it will be under warranty. Pioneer's best deals start around July because that when they release the new lines and they are selling old stock bringing in the new.2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

As an Aventage owner, I agree with Jesse. Simply because the Pioneer Elite amps are much more robust.
If you were going with an outboard amp, I would swing back to the Yamaha Aventage... just my dos pesos."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

For a $1000.00 (assuming you were in the US) you have a lot of choices and you really cannot go wrong with any of the ones already mentioned.
Whatever you do choose make sure it comes with preouts, at least for the front and center speakers. With the number of speakers you are planning to drive at "reference level" , i do see an amplifier in your future.
Also make sure the receiver comes with an advanced room correction program. Denon/Marantz/ Onkyo have Audyssey XT32, Pioneer has Advanced MCACC, etc
See:

So off the top of my head ( in addition to what has already been mentioned ) if you were looking at Onkyos ( not withstanding their reputation for reliability ) i would look at the NR818, NR 929 and above.
If looking at the Denons look at the X4000 and above
If looking at the Marantz look at the 7008 and above
I know you did not ask about subwoofers but with the line up of speakers you already have in THAT space i cannot help but add that for serious HT you need real subwoofers. No disrespect to your psw108's but to do real justice to the size of the room you have, i would seriously consider replacing them when funds allow.
