What model iPhone do you recommend?

My 5 year old blackberry finally died today and I need a new cell phone.

I am leaning toward getting an iPhone and would like to know what model people prefer (4 , 4s, 5, 5c, etc).

I was hoping my phone would last until the iPhone 6 comes out in the near future but it didn't make it.

I can upgrade to an iPhone 4 or 5 basically for free or little cost.

What model do iPhone do people prefer?

Thanks.

It really depends on how much you want your phone to do. I'll lay out three scenarios:

If you want the iPhone 6 but can't hold out until then I'd grab something like an iPhone 4 on CL or eBay. You'll pay a little bit more right now since you'll be buying without a contract, but will ultimately get what you want at a cheaper price when it's all done. You won't pay a lot for an iPhone 4 and will likely be able to get close to what you pay now in a few months now when you sell it to get the 6, because the 4 is already old enough to have lost most of the value it's going to lose. The thing to be careful of here is not to judge the Apple phone ecosystem on a model that old. The iPhone 4 is from early 2010 and that phone, and every other phone from that period, is gonna kinda suck compared to what's out there now. It may be a bit strange, but 2010 may as well have been a lifetime ago in cell phone history.

If you don't really care about the iPhone 6 and just want reasonable performance and feature in an iPhone now then look at the 5c or the 5. Those are both cheaper phone and represent a very good value if you want an iPhone.

If you simply want the best iPhone you can buy now and can either find another way to upgrade to the 6 when it comes out or don't really care that much about the 6, then get the 5s, it's their current flagship phone and can be had for good prices. The 5s has numerous advantages over the 5c and 5, the two most important being the fingerprint reader and the camera. It's also faster and has other advantages technologically, but the two that really set it apart are those two and honestly either of those are worth the price premium for me. If you take a lot of pictures on the go and especially in lower light situations where a flash gets used the 5s is light years beyond the older or cheaper models, photos are better across the board but the dual tone flash system is what sets it apart. The Touch ID fingerprint reader isn't something I thought would matter, but unlocking your phone with your finger is not only easier it's also more secure than the 4 digit passcode most people use.

    Hopefully that helps.

Look into BlackBerry 10. You'd be pleasantly surprised. It's nothing like legacy models and os. You're not limited on extra gigs max 128. Micro hdmi, nfc, battery that's lasts more than 8 hours. You're going to say it's missing apps. Well not anymore you can load any BlackBerry App and pretty much any android app. Drag and drop files.... much more too.
