Just wondering if anyone uses the Monitor 40's for 2 channel listening & how they sound. Decent prices from Polk. Welcome thoughts TIA

If you want to try some different Polk bookies...LSi7's can be had for a decent price these days.

Yeah, I had some Monitor 50's, and they have decent mids and highs, but overall the same as the 40's, I would not have been happy keeping just these as a 2 channel setup. I have always liked the RT55 stuff, a MUCH better 2 channel speaker in my opinion.

I tested my monitor 40s in a two channel setup.
I found that they really needed a sub (making it 2.1) to sound full.
Besides that they are not a terrible speaker for under 150 a pair.

I agree and actually run some LSi-7s which I believe sound there best with some NAD powering them?

Actually, my CSW Model Sixes by Henry Kloss (at $100-$150 new when they were available) give the LSi-7s all the competition they can handle and at a fraction of the price. That Kloss was a "freaking" genius (simple crossover, AC supsension, two way 8"/ 1 1/2 inch dome/cone tweeter)!

Well i did pick some 40's up & they sounded pretty good overall. A tad bit more bass than i expected BUT not enough for most people. I was amazed at the tweets-they really sounded good. Beautiful Cherry finish. Nice binding post on back. Perfect rear for HT with 60 70's for mains
