Nice evening for some music
Okay, I don't know much about HT, but I just came back from my college roommate's place. I wanted to pick up a particular vinyl LP I bought from him that he recorded once back in the day and never played again. He doesn't play vinyl anymore and its always been a favorite that I once had, but it got legs one day and walked away, so I bought his copy. I also wanted to hear his HT, however. Mostly because of what he's been telling me he's been doing lately. He recently purchased three Salk speakers, which are some kind of supercharged Songtowers as I understand it, placed upfront. I believe two of the Salks were at Axpona this spring. He also had his mint Allison One's, that he bought new in about 1981 or something, set up as surrounds. To top it off, he recently picked up two Seaton subs, with 2-15's in each sub. I took over Norah Jones' SACD 5.1 of Come Away With Me, and the MF SACD of Dylan's Desire. I have to say that his system really filled the room with fantastic sound, but I suppose that goes without saying. I would have never thought of Allison One's as surrounds for one thing, but they worked outrageously well. And those subs are just awesome. And to top it all off, I finally heard some Salks too. Nice evening.
