Guess this comes with the territory when you pick up RTI A7s off Craigslist for $325...but how big of a deal is this? does this effect sound? If so, how do I go about fixing it?

I'm not sure if that is from being pushed in or if the tweeter overheated. Anyway, you can order a new one from Polk. Simple repair, unscrew the 2 hex head bolts, the tweeter assembly pops out, pull the leads, reverse.

Well, first thing is how does it sound? I'm assuming you got 2 so if the other one is ok compare the 2 for sound and go from there.

Even if it needs to be replaced $350 for a pair of cherry A7s is a pretty good deal!

Yeah, I was happy I came across this bargain. There doesn't seem to be a difference in treble from the other speaker. I'll probably just live with it for now. However I'm curious, do you know what Polk charges for a new tweeter?

It probably won't impact the sound from a practical sense. It may change the dispersion pattern slightly but it looks like it would be in an extremely off-axis area where it wouldn't matter. If it bothers you, might try a little adhesive tape to gently pull out the dent.

I found my RTA 12s in the dump (literally) and one of the Peerless tweeters had slight creases and the other Peerless had 3 really defined creases.

Took em home and w/i 20 min they were sounding great. Had a slight decrease in output on the heavily creased tweeter but a slight balance adjustment fixed it. I'll eventually get the replacements (from Madisound I think) but as long as they sound this good I can live with it.

hook them up to your computer (through receiver), play some chimes, bells, and other high frequency samples with the balance switched completely 100% left, then right. You should be able to notice if there is a problem.

I thought Polk only made RDO 194/8 for their 1000-2500 tweeter series. They don't make a replacement for the Peerless.

My brothers son pushed both of mine in one day. They don't sound any different, but they just look weird. I wasn't to happy about it...
