It will be only on the HT rig. My two channel gear will have surge protected hospital sockets from PS Audio.

John, I highly recommend Equitech power centers. They are phenominal.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

For HT John, it should serve it's purpose.....and for the price you picked it up for is decent enough too. Keep in mind these units are one and done when it comes to lightning strikes. Had Monsters top of the line unit a while back, a 500 buck unit, one lightning strike 100 yards away and it was toast. Did it's job though up until it's death.

Nice snag John. I've started slowly working toward getting Furman stuff. My APC stuff works more than fine, just think like Tony said I think its one and done, whereas IIRC the Furman stuff isn't. And I need it as we are prone to brownouts and blackouts in Brownsburg, so its saved my gear mutliple times so far.

Heck I bought a Furman AC-215a protector for JUST my hardwired alarm system which has a single wallwart drawing like 15 volts lol.....

Furman SMP products can take multiple hits; I think they still market some cheaper MOV based products, so make sure you know what you're buying. There's also an ongoing flame war as to whether the SurgeX or Furman tech is better- personally I have SurgeX, but that's mostly because I like their panel box products.

John... looks like a good deal for sure... If it is used you may want to check the battery as they really only last about 2-3 years. I went with the panamax 5400 and it has plenty of outlets for my HT...didn't need a battery backup as we have whole house ng generator. We were the only house with TV and internet access during SANDY cuz cable (we have Directv) companies were out, and was able to use ATT cell phone tethered and shared via blu tooth. Always have a contingency plan!

Garth Powell engineer for Furman is a fellow audiophile himself so in development his own personal taste goes with it. As for the furman products themselves, I have been using them for over 10yrs in the field where I have several client locations extremely prone to surge and lightning strikes. I use the AC215 on every 32-55" TV in which I have never lost one, just reset the Furman and all good.

I own 2 Elite 20's and they to have served me well for years.

Regarding the batteries, don't pay for a new module. All of them use standard batteries that you can purchase for about 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of buying a module and they attach with a simple sleeve connector. Just pull out the module, read off the model # and get them online or at a local specialty store (batteries plus). There a good chance you can upgrade (or downgrade to be cheaper) the capacity of the UPS. For example, my APC uses UB1280 batteries, so that's 12v, 8.0AH, but I can move up to a UB1290 for 9AH in the same form factor for longer uptime or go cheaper with a UB1270 if I only want to cover blips and not extended outages.

Agree 100%!!!! It'll take your system to a whole new level (both audio & video). I wouldn't even think about running a system without one. They really are game changers to say the least.

NP. APC is also good, but Furmans stuff is a bit better.

For those of you needing just 2 outlets, the AC-215a was selling at buy.com for 109 recently NIB w/ free shipping.....
