My VTL tube amps need a little time to sound their Best, say 10-30min.
I'm curious how long can you leave your tube amps on for, are they fine being turned on in the morning and then turned off at bedtime?
Or should they have breaks in between, I like to listen to my music in spurts, I'll listen for an hour or two then go upstairs for an hour then back down again for a couple more and so on..

The amps should be ok but you will be shortening the lift of the tubes. I used to leave my amps on before going to work and letting them heat up my apartment for when I come home in those long winter days in ND.

I wouldn't leave any tube gear unattended for periods of time. You won't ruin the gear by leaving it on, but you will shorten tube life somewhat just because of the hours the tubes are powered up. Signal tubes have a longer lifespan than power tubes so expect to replace power tubes down the road.

Finding great tubes, especially NOS vintage stuff is difficult.More as time goes on.
    Treat them nice.
I do about a 30-60 min warmup before using but never leave them on.
The solid state Sunfire i have on the HT setup is on all the time though.

Tube power amps should not be left on when no one is around because if one of the power tubes goes south things will get ugly fast.

+1, never leave your tube amps on if you're NOT around. You're literally playing with fire. Listen to Jesse, he should know!

I get very nervous if I think I've left my amp on and I'm out the door. Otherwise, yes, a minimum of 30 minutes is what I find necessary to get the musical juices flowing and by around an hour, I've pretty much "melded" with the listening chair!

Sounds scary, I guess if a tube fails the voltage will jump to the others which would in turn overload them and cause a Thermonuclear explosion?
Damn now I have to install a washroom in my basement so I don't leave the room incase of accidental detonation..

I inadvertently set forth a series of events that could have ended my life and the lives of my surrounding neighbours...
After listening to my gear for hours last night I went to bed thinking I turned of my Tube Amps BUT I left one on and went to bed, upon waking this morning I went downstairs and noticed a Glowing mass of Tubes, I immediately ran the 12 feet to turn off the timer, seemed like an eternity to get there,in the face of Danger..
Crisis now averted...I saved the house, the street and maybe even the neighbourhood...I'm a Hero.....

    Another Chernobyl avoided.

I say you move to Washington D.C. and ditch the timer. Next time should you wipe out a neighborhood, make it one that nobody would mourn .
