S-6 bookshelfs?

What can ya tell me about these? Local to me where do they fit in reguards to 5jr+'s or rt 25's ( my reference point. )Sound and value. Have read the specs on the site here. Appreciate the info. Guy wants to trade or sell but no price listed.

I have never had the pleasure of listening to a set of 5jr+S, but I owned a set of the S6 models. They sounded pretty good, I personally thought bass was a bit much, almost bloated sounding, mids and highs were pretty decent. If you like bass from a bookshelf, these will do fine. I think they sound a little better than the 25's overall. And if it helps, mine were mint with manuals, $20!

Dbkiller you rather close to me. My thoughts were to give them to my daughter so I could get one pair of my 5jr+'s back from her.

I still have the owners manual for the S6, if you get them and would like it let me know. They aren't bad speakers at all, I did enjoy mine. I do see the ones your looking at and they look to be in good condition, and it appears there may be another set of the 5jr in the same area as well. And yes, there are a few of us Polk guys down here in Bradenton/Sarasota.

I get up that way for work once in a while, we have a Clearwater location. I would say check the surrounds on the S6, as they tend to need reconed quite a bit on those and similar models the I have seen and I personally wouldn't offer more than about $40, but thats my preference. If you can get a good deal on them, I would say snag them. They do have a good sound, and they are surprisingly light weight. By chance, do you mod your own speakers?

Dbkiller, I plan and buy all parts but the soldering is done by my tech.the rest I do, hurricane nuts ,reseal cabs, dynamat ect.

How do you like your RTA-12C's? How much werre the RDO194? There is a pair of RTA-11tl's local, guy says VGC, just both needs tweeters for fairly cheap. I was curious if I swapped for the RDO's, would I need to do any X-over mods?

Never heard the 11's, having said that what I have read they are not in the same class. The 12c's are wonderfull. Rdo run about 80 bucks os so from polk well worth it! But i'd wait for 12's if you can ( how cheep are the 11's ) might be able to enjoy them that flip um later? I do have a pair of sl2000's left over from mods . I think they are just dropins for the 11's. I will pm you.

I have the S8 and they sound quite nice. The designer told me that he felt that the S6 and S8 were the sweet spot of the series. The S10 was for "mucho bass" and tends to be bloaty. The S6 and S8 are probably the most under rated Polk speakers ever.

I have not heard of any surround issues or need to re-cone. One thing that does tend to be an issue is the plastic around the edge of the cabinet tends to crack.
