Totally agree. Next thing they'll patent is wings on a cattle car.

Saw that article this morning, who would sit on those for the time it takes to load and take off well alone during the flight?

Couldn't agree more. My first thought was cattle car also, why don't they just make them stand up so they could cram 3x as many in there.

    Ridiculous

I dunno .... at least they're letting them ride/peddle inside the plane.

The suits at Amtrak have been studying the Indian railway system and are considering adopting some of their innovative ideas to increase revenues
(pretty sure there's a train in there somewhere)

The Airbus seating reminds me of that scene in Chicken Run where all the chickens are sitting on bicycle seats, inside the "ole crate" pedaling to drive the propellers.

Wonder what 1st class would look like.....an upgrade to a banana seat ?

Ridiculous concept if you ask me. I would much prefer a reclining massage chair and a full service bar on a plane.

This is probably the NEXT phase of cuts! Funny I had this exact image in mind when I saw the bicycle seats.

I don't know about you guys, but at my age, and I am on a bike three times a week, my lower extremities go NUMB after 30-35 minutes? So I'd have to be carried off the any Airbus flight that was much longer. lol

    Hop in. Or on.

They're just begging for people to bring little bike headlights and bells. I would. Torment the pilots by everybody ringing their bells while they're trying to land.

Flying anymore feels something akin to travelling trough Europe under occupation... Papers please, empty everything, bend over, remove your shoes... all this takes place while guards hover about with loaded rifles and now we are being directed onto aircraft about as comfortable as a cattle car?

NO THANKS! I will drive until the force us to ride bicycles.

Flying is one of the safest modes of transportation. Your more likely to get killed in your car than an airplane. I just want to be able to walk around instead of having to be glued to a seat the whole time. They should have a bar, where you can mingle with the other passengers.

A 4 hour flight is about all I can handle, lucky for me that takes me almost anywhere in the USA from Chicago. Don't know how others do it going to Australia or China....that's a long time to be in a frickin' seat.

Another experiment airlines are working on is "standing room only" for shorter flights.

In related news, I've been hearing blurbs on NPR for a 'sponsor' (or whatever they call them on public radio) who is offering [and, like the titular Airbus seating of this thread, you just cannot make this stuff up!] "European river cruises on Viking longboats". I assume rowing is required, but I wonder if raping, pillaging and plundering is included in the base fare or if those are extra-cost?

Saw that ^^^, though the rowing part would take away the fun of it all. Those added cost items....depends on where ya stop I guess.
