Adding amp to AVR after running room correction

So the question is once you hook up a 3 channel amp to your AVR after you have run room corrections does that pretty much nullify the settings, and if so running room correction again after the amp is hooked up won't work or will it for the speakers hooked up? This is my first AVR with pre outs and just wondering if running the mic again is Necessary? Or another way to word it will room corrections work to your fronts if they are hooked up to an external amp?

I would run it again with the amp in the chain. I wouldn't if it was a 5-7 channel amp and all channels were now powered with an amp, but since you didn't mention what you are doing with the remaining channels, I assume they are AVR powered. This isn't as much since the amp will sound different as much as it is about impedance/sensitivity of the in/outs on the two pieces involved. Your volume levels of the newly amplified channels may be different. I would at the least, go in and match volume levels manually.

Any changes made will require running the program again.

Room correction works off the sound it hears at the mic, and the sound coming out of the speakers. It doesn't care what electronics are hooked up to it. If you do anything to change the sound, then running room correction again is probably a good idea, though not always a necessity.

If you do run it again, just make sure that mic is at ear level at your listening position. Probably the most important part of running the program. Also the house needs to be silent, no washer and dryer noises....dogs barking, kids playing, etc.

Steve, I would recommend doing the room correction again after adding the amp.
If anything, it will help balance the volume levels across all 5 of the speakers.

When I hooked up my monoblocks it didn't sound quite right so I ran Audyssey again and it sounded great. After the blocks broke in I ran it again...overkill, maybe but it doesn't take long to do.
