My New Sony XBR55X850B 4K and Onkyo TX-NR838

Got the new Sony hooked up and just using the Onkyo right now as my amp stand has not arrived so I wont hook the Adcom up till it arrives, my rears will be higher up on mounts and the front heights also will be hooked up once I get the mounts. Jethro Tull for the initial test sounds great on the Onkyo I love it in every way I ran the room correction bot will have to do it again once the other speakers are mounted in their place. As far as the Sony Goes we have # and the picture has better darks than the Samsung 4k did I think the Sony is just sexier. Well we got some Blu Rays to view cant wait until every thing is done 14 months of refinishing the flooded basement and putting a HT downstairs is almost complete.

Some more Pictures The A3s will be wall mounted once the mounts get here a pair as front heights also will go up A3s but considering some fxis in the rear not sure yet but a 7.2 will be enough. The Adcom and the Onkyo both wont fit down below so the Amp will go to the left on a amp stand once its in the Onkyo hangs out about 1 1/2 inches over the bottom shelf the things pretty big guess I will have to live with that until I get another stand. More pics to follow once everything is complete. The wifes ok with everything which is a plus.

Wow Steve! Congratulations on getting it set up and crankin'! Looks great already and will look and sound even better once you get the Adcom into the mix, the rears in place and the heights up. Fantastic! Hope the synergy is blowin' yer skirt up!! ;-)

Here is a shot with the Amp & stand and my trusty old Technics hooked up to it I was able to get the Onkyo all the way in the entertainment center had to reroute some cables as when it was in the center the Signal cables pushed into the cable management part off to the right I don't have that problem.

Congrats after all you had to do. That Tull disc has great video on it, did you upscale to 4K with the Oppo or the Sony, and how did you find this disc with your new set up compared to before?

Pretty happy with how it sounds with music I have played a lot of vinyl through it, CD's and Sacd's sound pretty sweet through the Oppo, real Happy with the Onkyo.

my first personally purchased stereo receiver was Onkyo, and I've always liked their stuff.

are you using the analog mode on the Onkyo with your Oppo?

which receiver/processor were you running before? presume you were still running the Adcom for your fronts?

speaking of this, I've seen many 4k sets in stores and of course the 4k pic is awesome, but how do these sets do on regular 1080p material ? That's what the majority of the material available is anyway. As good as other totl 1080p sets ?
