Hello all.... newbie here..... I was setting up my old, antiquated but loveable sound system and my current speakers just didn't
sound as good as others....they were Sears LXI series floor speakers from days of old...

Looked in this forum and it seems that Polk is a well respected name in vintage speakers, so found a pair for $30.00 (both)

Trouble is there is no info on them or specs regarding power handling.

attached are some pictures..... 10 inch woofer. 2 - 6.5 inch mid range and a tweeter in a floor stand cabinet. This is one heavy cabinet maybe over 60 pounds. Front and rear panels are glued in place.

Rear of cabinet has screw type terminal and is fused.

Rubber, foam and cones looked to be in really nice condition.

Is there a series or model ## ?? Can they handle 100 watts ?? Was $15.00 per speaker worth it ??

They sound a lot better then the LXI. More clear and better tone.

    Monitor 10, early version.

They will handle more than that, but it also depends greatly on what those 100wpc are coming from.

Yes, PMPO 100w is not good for them when cranking.

You got me on that one.. Yupp... Goodwill.... Snowden River parkway.....

seldom go shopping (but unload a LOT of stuff there)...... just thought to
go inside and see what they had. Fortunately I had been browsing this forum just yesterday
so took a chance on the name. $15.00 each.

They sound real sweet. Polished the cabinets...look almost new.

So they are model 10's, back from the 70's.... Good condition for something 40 years old.

    Thanks for the identification....

    Hello,
Welcome and enjoy your new (to you) speakers. That tweeter fuse, however, looks to be a slow blow type. If I'm right you'd want to change it to a 1.0 Amp fast blow type.
    Enjoy, Ken

I agree. I noticed that they had the wrong fuses when I saw them in the store.
