Ragbrai! Anyone else riding this year?

I'm not sure how well known ragbrai is outside of Iowa, but I'm curious if anyone else is planning to ride this year.

    I have in the past and plan on again in the future but I am so horribly out of shape right now, no.

    That being said, I have several friends going in various capacities...2 doing start to finish, 2 doing 4 days and 3 doing 3 days.

    Nice, I've ridden quite a few partial rides, this will be my 2nd time doing the entire week. Last year I did the whole thing with my dad which was a cool experience, I believe it was something like his 13th in a row!

    Very cool. Makes me want to buy a nice bike and get back into riding (haven't since HS.) A buddy of mine at work completed the Tour Divide last year, which sounded horribly difficult/taxing. I'd like to get back to being in that kind of shape!

    Where is the final stop this year? Did from Iowa City to the Qca when we dipped our tires in here heck Lance Armstrong even rode part of it. Never did the whole thing but a partial on a mountain bike is just as good they had 38 Special in concert for the night before activities.

    Looks like it ends in Guttenberg this year. Word to the wise if anyone is riding it to the end. Watch the railroad tracks closely! This should go without saying but seems we always hit a car/truck every year going through there. The tracks do get used and we are running quite a few more trains the past two years...

    Thanks for the heads-up about the tracks smglbrth!

    It looks like lance is riding 4 days this year, I've heard mixed opinions about his participation but I tend to think everyone on ragbrai is just out to have a nice time and I figure lance is just as welcome as anybody else.

    When 38 special played in iowa city/ Coralville a few years back the bass player stopped in the music shop I work at and bought a bass from us!

    I heard today that the route is one of the shortest routes in the 43 year history of the week long ride across Iowa. Day 7 is going to be the most difficult due to elevation and many hills as they approach the Mississippi river.

    West music there's one hear in Davenport I did not know they were everywhere I got a Yamaha acoustic at the one here in town, lots of Polkies in Iowa,and some of us have participated in Ragbrai way cool.
