Hello Polkies,
I have the chance to acquire one of these three setups. My music:movie is about 70:30. Mostly electronic music and rock, so a lotta lows, but crisp highs. What do ya'll think, prices pretty much equal. I'll be picking up an M&K V-75 MKii for sub for now. I'm also curious how the Monitor 70 stacks against the RT55p's... I really like the mids and lows of the 55's, but can't remember entirely what the 70's sound like, just that I liked them. Quicker the answers the better, thanks guys!!!
RTi70, RTi100, CSi30 (would upgrade to 40 in time)
RT55p x4, CS400
Monitor 70, Monitor 50, CS2

Before I give my opinion, straighten a few things out for me.
Your running a HT PC into an entry level HK receiver with 2 RT55's and a subwoofer....that's it ?
Your "retired" list...is this something still in your possession or sold off ?HT SYSTEM-
Sony 850c 4k
Pioneer elite vhx 21
Sony 4k BRP
SVS SB-2000

Retired is gone... things come up in life that require money lmao... such is why I dont' have much left... the receiver will be replaced soon enough with a 7ch. Probably an Onkyo or Elite. Eventually a 2/3ch amp for the front stage, but yeah, I only have a crappy hk receiver (for now), and the 55's... dont' worry about the fact that I have 55's though, I'm wondering out of those setups, which may be best for what I listen to :P consider it powered from a newer onkyo or elite.LivingRoom

I'd go with the M70 set up, only because the others may need some work soon considering their age. I do like the 55's though, and 4 of those and a cs400 would make a nice HT.HT SYSTEM-

Well, bought a set of Monitor 70s, 40s, and CS2 last night... set it up, and went to bed lol (was 2am). Listened for a moment, Listened to a few different songs (mostly electronic genre), it felt like the tweeters were clearer, less listner's fatiguing vs the 55's, I felt they extended lower, but weren't quite as "heavy hitting" as the 55's. They're probably harder to drive appropriately than the 55's would be my guess? I still have the option, and the money, to pick up another pair of 55's and cs400. The music I listen to is pretty bass heavy, so I'm not sure where I should go from here -_-LivingRoom

Get a decent sub to handle the boom....HT SYSTEM-

tonyb: That's the part that has always confused me because I've always felt that if I rely on the sub for bass for the lower mids, I can almost always pinpoint it's location; whereas, if I have full range speakers up front that extend low enough, I can let the sub do the bottom end of which direction is indistinguishable, or at least close to that, such as the 20's in frequency. I'm still ameatuer, and I'm sure it shows, which is why I'm bringing this up lol.
DSkip: Yeah, the budgeting is very tight right now... I bought that monitor setup, which also came with a Klipsch 8", older Onkyo 7.1 receiver, and Monitor 30's for $175 I'll probably flip much of it to get into a better setup. I may eventually head that way, but right now money is pretty tight due to a car payment I've taken on in the past year and a half. Halfway through, once it's paid off, yeah, a LOT of money will be freed up for some fun ;DLivingRoom

I've actually read it more than once :P It's a matter of money right now lol. I've looked at them, and center, etc... just tight budget with house I just got into, car (not a cheapie), essentials I need to get... so my income for speakers is pretty much... well, from flipping speakers locally lol... nevermind the ex-gf which helped with some of the costs... now an ex -_-LivingRoom

If your movie experiences are primarily for one or two people, you don't need a center channel. You have a lot of speakers now, and if you flipped some of them, it wouldn't be hard to get where you want to be. Simply selling those RT3000p's will net you 66% of the average used price of a pair of 6311's. There is no comparison between the two either. I'd seriously suggest moving out of any powered Polks - I like their sound for the most part, but they aren't worth the repairs needed when those caps crap out on you.
I've built my system through flipping as well since I've been a college student since I started this journey. Speakers I buy usually need mild repairs, so I fix them and pass them along after pitting them against the 6311's. I know exactly where you're coming from - don't be afraid to move those current speakers down the line if it gets you further to your end-goal.
Wait a tick, the "Retired" list are all gone. Most the better ones were flipped mainly because of unexpected life expenses I've had the past few yearsLivingRoom

Oops. Sorry, didn't see the retired tag. Forget ever thin I said then
(( I know lmao. Once the car is paid off, I'll have loads of money to throw at it, til then, it's slim pickings from the cash tree lol. We'll see...LivingRoom

I should really stop posting from my phone.
I see you're using an 8100 projector... how are the blacks? I've been scouring for an 8500ub/8700ub, but have considered the 1080/8100/8350 models. it won't be pitch black in my room, but I can get it pretty dark. I was hoping to do between 120-150 screen, and have about 11-13ft throw if ceiling mounted. I used the calculator on projectorcentral for different models, but haven't tried those yet.LivingRoom
