On Friday's I would wear a different Ramone's T-shirt in at work for awhile! I actually have all of the albums and created a 100+ song playlist for my ipod which I play thru a FM transmitter at work for others to tune to if they like :)

Saw Tommy on that "No Reservation" show. my favorite song is from the "Animal Boys" LP "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down"

I'm to young to appreciate the Ramones' career, but spinning Rocket To Russia on vinyl right now and I can definitely appreciate the music they created.

Stumbled upon four of their albums in pristine condition about a year ago. I find myself pulling them out more often than I thought I would.

Saw them in Detroit on their tour to support the first album.

I think it was at the the Michigan Palace or maybe the Masonic Temple.

Waiting for the show to start, sat staring at a sparse drum kit, a guitar and a bass on stands on either side, and a 7' tall microphone front and center.

In those days many bands had giant drum kits with gongs, piles of stacked keyboards, tons of guitars on display, persian rugs, and even stools to sit on for long boring noodling solos.

The boys walked out, Dee Dee counted out - "one two free fouw" and proceeded to rip through 15 or 20 songs maybe 2 minutes each max.

The songs all sounded the same.....except they didn't.

The world was never the same.

Ground breaking artists no doubt, shame to lose these guys. Their careers came and went fast. RIP!

    They were the greatest.

On October 8, 2004 Tommy Ramone paid tribute to his deceased bandmates:

"They gave everything they could in every show. They weren't the type to phone it in, if you see what I mean."

Here's a link to an awesome HQ video of the Ramones in their prime that proves that point. A non-stop all-out rock "n' roll blitzkrieg!!! They don't stop for a breath the entire set.

Live at The Rainbow, London on New Year's Eve 1977 (the entire set)!!

If you are a fan of the Ramones like I am, this one is worth downloading and saving to your hard drive.

Two best options are 114 MB MP4 or 174 MB AVI. These guys kicked azz!

There is this country hick from southern Kansas who I work with and mostly only listens to country & a very little bit of rock, but when he hears I'm playing Some Ramones he will listen in all day LOL!! He is just the last person I would have thought would be interested in them :)

    Gatecrasher:

Thanks for sharing the video. And the great pic as well. Besides creating punk music, that pic shows how influential they were in creating punk culture and style as well.

That video was great! I have the "It's Alive" double lp and I guess the video you posted is part of the same show?

Funny thing is, I grew up on Long Island, only about 45 minutes from the Ramones' Forest Hills, Queens, home (and 1 hour from NYC and CBGB) but I never saw the Ramones in concert in the US. The only time I saw them live was when I was on a semester abroad program in London my junior year in college in Spring 1986 and saw them play at a London club (I forget the name of the club). They rocked the place! It still is one of my most memorable concert experiences!
