I think you get a good deal. Here is a review that I read:
http://www.audio-ideas.com/reviews/loudspeakers/paradigm_studio_40_v2.html
At the minimum, it should provide you with better low freq. coverage. I have no personal experience with it, but do have a pair of LSi9. Enjoy....
That's it, no more posting in Polk forum about Pdigm speaks j/kI am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Thanks for the review! (Although I've read 'a million' already).
Note that these are the veneer vs the laminate!
I was following 2 other auctions closely, both for same version (but both laminate), and one finished at $710 and the other for $735 so when I saw these this morning for $650 Buy it Now, I had to jump.
Sorry for bringing up 'other' competing brands in the Polk forum, but at least I DID mention several different Polk models too!
Just overcome with a little enthusiasm!2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. no need to apologise, I was just kidding...enjoy the speaks...what amp are you going to power them with?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

what amp are you going to power them with?
Hmmm! Well I just got rid of my Audiosource Amp Ones and my Onkyo M-501 , so I'll be trying them with a beautiful, vintage Marantz 2270! Also have an Onkyo Integra DTR 7 but have preferred the Marantz so far for 2-channel.
BTW....I will probably be using the Studio 40's with an Infinity IL-120 sub.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. You "sold" your stuff to your "newly married baby girl?"
Maybe it's me. Enjoy your new speakers.

Geez! Gimme a break!
Actually she's been married a year.
This is basically what she got from me for $250.
Polk Audio LS-50's
Polk Audio CS-350SL center
Velodyne VA-810 sub (after I buy a replacement driver)
I paid $1800 for this stuff!
In addition I GAVE her:
Harman Kardon AVR 25 receiver
Harman Kardon HD7600II cd player.
This is besides all the stuff she got for the wedding (in addition to the wedding itself!)....like the '88 Mercedes 300E!
Besides....they just got a settlement check for $15000, and I just picked up over $1000 of repairs on the Mercedes!
Considering all of this I don't think charging her $250 makes me a bad person.....does it?
Sheesh! I figured I'd get a coupla comments on what a great deal $250 was!2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Whew! Thanks!
I thought I'd have to enroll in child abuse classes there for a minute!
P.S. I forgot to mention the Sonus speaker stands I threw in. I think I paid $80 bucks for those alone.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. I wish my father in law would give me that stuff for $250...There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

The Studio 40s are some nice speakers. I had a pair for about 6 months and did a lot of comparisons with the LSi 9. The Studio 40s are more revealing and are noticeably brighter sounding than the LSi 9. Bass and treble i liked the 9s. Mids I liked the Studios. You can hear more details with the Studio 40s. You will need to mate these speakers with some neutral sounding gear. In the end the tweeters were just too "hot" for my taste so I traded them in. Not as bright as Polk RTXXi speakers though and the midrange sounded much better overall in comparison to RT35i's that I also had.
Enjoy and let us know what you think of them.
