Would the sb2000 be a worthy replacement for the pb1000? I know they are going to have different sound signatures, but the other half is having second thoughts about my pb1000...says its too bulky for the room ( I wish that would've been said BEFORE I got it in the first place). I'm still in the return window, so I lucked out there. Spec wise, they're similar. Anyone have experience with sealed sub s for HT use?? Thoughts??

The SB2000 is smaller than the PB1000 but not by much. It is larger than the Bic F12...

Actually, the sb2000 is only about 14.5 inches in height width and depth, which makes it smaller than the BIC f12 and the pb1000. I'm wondering if the sb2000 will have similar output capabilities as the pb1000...

Call SVS. In my experience, they will shoot straight and not try to over-sell.

http://www.soundandvision.com/content/svs-sb-2000-and-pb-2000-subwoofers .................For 100$ more, go for PB-2000 who is better for ultra-low frequency! (see diagram!)

His problem, if you had read his original post, is size. And the PB2000 is way bigger than the PB1000. His wife wants something smaller. (That's what she said?)

Ah, ok!.. For small size, he have to go for active with passive radiator. Sealed sub don't make justice except JL-GOTHAM etc... Sealed box lack so much ultra-low frequency needed for movies...Yep, for size matter, active with passive radiator is the best!

True, a sealed box produce less distortion than a ported and this is why active plus passive box have the same quality than sealed with more output under 30HZ... Ported box is a nigthmare to place in a room also!

+1 nbrowser. Sealed sub's can be better than ported. According to the eq graph on the SVS site, the sb2000 has greater SPL overall compared to the pb1000..even in the mid to lower 20s..surprisingly. Again, thats what the graph shows...

Go the other way. Get 2 PN 13's, and use them as end tables. Maybe the piano black just for a more modern look. She gets new furniture, and you're bass happy. Everybody is happy.

She isn't a fan of glossy black lol...but thanks for the idea. I showed her some pics of the sb2000..and she doesn't like the metal grille. She likes the look of my pb1000, just not its size...there's no pleasing her today lol..

Another thing to consider is one of the SVS cylinder subs, nice small footprint (16" in diameter). The wife may still object to the bulk, my PC-NSD12 is about 3 feet tall, but it is really out of the way in a corner.

Hi Obsession 18. I had thought of that as well...yet a corner placement I cannot do b/c that space is occupied. Also, my other half would consider those too bulky as well lol. She really liked the size of my psw110, but after having this SVS, I can't go back lol. I'm working on some kind of compromise.. Maybe relocating it so its more aesthetically appealing..we'll see ;-)

I could loan you my wife. She prefers the cylinders (second on the way) over what she refers to as the "misplaced end tables". Hehe.

    Here is a review of the PB1000 V SB1000.
    http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/speaker-subwoofer-reviews/66069-svs-pb1000-sb1000-subwoofer-review.html

You can use the info to see if you can get equal or better performance with the SB2000 over the PB1000.
I think you will be just fine with the SB2000. I say go for it.

    With a 12" woofer, a 500 watt amp and a frequency response of 19-220 Hz ± 3 dB v 10" on the PB1000, 300 watt amp and a frequence response of 19-270hz, i say go for the SB2000.

Worse case, you can always return it back if you are not impressed with it. SVS i understand has a very good return policy. It is a no lose situation.
If you like it as i suspect you will and the budget and the BOSS allows, you can get a second one. Then you will really be golden.

Also just a thought. A receiver that has good speaker/room correction/calibration application (Audyssey x32, MCACC, etc) also goes a long way in helping blend you sub/s to you main speakers thus having a wonderful effect on the overall sound.

Good point gumbay13. My other half doesn't like the metal grill on the 2000 tho. I'm going to see if she will "adapt" to the pb1000. Maybe the sound of the SVS will change her mind. She does like movies..lol Honestly, I think she really liked the psw110..

I have the PB1000 as well. Love it! Can't believe how good it sounds and how loud it gets. But it is big and I have thought about trading it in for the SB2000 also. My problem is I'm well past the trade up window so I'll just have to bight the bullet and eventually buy a PB2000 out right. The SB1000/2000 do have similar stats but the 2000 is much smaller and would be easier to hide. I think the metal grill would not be an issue after a while. I say get the SB2000 and let me know how much you like it so I can justify buying one myself.

I would like to get the sb2000 and see how it is, but when my other half says she doesn't like the look of something ( metal grill ), its pretty much dead set. Anyways, I've redone my setup so my pb1000 is less obtrusive, and the WAF is much better ;-) and she loves how it sounds too! Its weird how some people like something more when it doesn't conflict with other stuff lol. If you do get the sb2000, you can let me know how it compares to the pb1000 ;-)
