I am looking at buying a pair of these for my Carver ALIII's as these are highly recommended. They came in two configurations, a single 4 ohm voice coil and a dual 4 ohm voice coil. The pair I found is a dual 4 ohm voice coil. I need a 4 ohm voice coil to match the Carvers. Can the dual voice coil be hooked up to run as 4 ohms? Thanks for any help!

dual 4 ohm coils can be hooked up for either 2 or 8 ohms but not 4 ohms. However there is more to matching speakers to subs than just the impedance. If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Actually, you could run the voicecoils at 4ohms...but you would need 4 separate channels of amplification to do so."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Can you simply purchase the 4ohm version and return the DV version?

If you run both woofers off one amp, independently of the mids/highs/xovers (Not sure how your speakers are setup) in the speaker cabinets, then you could run both at 4ohms off one amplifier. Just another possibility. ZLTFUL mentioned 4 channels of amplification and that's for both subs combined. So two channels for each sub. One set of +/- to each voice coil on each sub at 4ohms. Just to make sure you understood what he meant.Too many good quotes to list..waiting for some fresh ammo.
