Just won a Marantz CD5001. Its about a 7 or 8 year old unit, but brand new sealed in the box. I have owned nothin but Sony and Technics players. Cant wait to give the Marantz a spin.

    I heard some CDs from one few years back at a friend's house... at least, from the pictures I can see right now, it looks exactly the same. I thought it sounded better than my mother's Sony CDP, but I had no objective way to compare (not the same room, despite having the same speakers). I think the DAC itself is pretty good and might explain why.

    Thanks. Thought i was gonna get it really cheap, but it kept inching up towards the end. Oh well, didnt do too bad
