SDA SRS 2.3 2nd Mod Done

Dunno if this really is a mod, but today I slipped a pair of Auralex Gramma's under the SDA's. I immediately notice tighter bass response and no longer worry about effin up the hardwood floor. I prefer this method over spikes cause it think getting spikes and discs under these would be a muthaeffer. They are sounding better every day!!!

Decoupling these cabinets from the wood floor helps in my room...

    I see that you are tweaking and enjoying your new toys.

    Now that you've had them for a little longer, can you give us more thoughts on how they stack up against the modern and well regarded LSi & LSiM's?

    I love them both... The LSIM 703's with VR3 xover mods are really sweet and accurate. Connected to tubes they give me a smooth tight soundstage at low to reference levels. They do great with jazz and vocals.

    The SDA's are a beast and can produce dynamics in SPL's that the LSIM's could never achieve. The SDA effect also creates a huge sounstage that feels more like a live performance. The RD0-194-1 tweeter upgrades are a huge improvement over the stock sl2000's and smooth out the screetchy highs that to me were fatiguing bordering annoying...I am keeping both for now as I enjoy the diversity of character they offer.

    I've already pulled my spikes because like you they did nothing for bass and scratched the crap out of my floor. Right now I put back larger button sliders but I will look into your mat system there.
