Was thinking of trying a different AVR to use with the CDM nt1. Looking for warmth, decent power and the latest codecs. The speakers are pretty easy to drive. 2 way bookies, 88 sensitivity, and 8 ohms. The.center is 91 i believe. Dont want to add an amp right now

I like my Anthem AVR. I came from an HK AVR7200 and think the Anthem is cleaner, yet just as smooth. I would look at the 500-510 or 700-710 models. I run the 300 and have run it hard into ADS L1230s and L1290s to ear splitting levels and it never compressed or showed any signs of running out of power. Once I knew that I wanted to keep it, I run my mains into my Odyssey Stratos and run the rest off the AVR.
HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

    2 Channel Thorens TD 318 Grado ZF1, SACD/CD Marantz 8260, Soundstream/Krell DAC1, Audio Mirror PP1, Odyssey Stratos, ADS L-1290, ICs-DIY Twisted , Speaker-Raymond Cable

An amp was my first suggestion, til I saw your 'disclaimer'.

What don't you like about the Pio...I thought the Elites had a rep for 'warm'.

The Marantz have good street cred.

[look for used MF int amp w/ HT Bypass - you will thank me later....perfect match for the CDM1NTs]

I dont dislike the Pio at all. Just had it 3 yrs and getting that itch. Anthem, Harmon and Marantz all have a rep for warm i think. MF as in Music Fidelity? May be a bit more than i can do right now.

    yup. MF=Musical Fidelity

I would think the cost for a new avr that would be a step up would be about $1k - and used MF A5 int amps pop up for about $1300, so not much more of stretch. And I can personally vouch that pairing the A5 with the CDM1NTs is magical....ear to ear grinning goodness
