It looks to me like Earnhart Jr. has to be the favorite. However, the Fords have put on a pretty good showing this week. So, after saying all that, I will go against the grain and pick Sterling Marlin to put his Dodge in the winners circle.
Any other predictions?

I predict that Nascar will never realize that the best racing is on other than oval tracks
I will install the flame suit at this time, thank you and bon voyage..........CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I second that prediction and I'll make another one. They will never realize that you can race in the rain!!!Political Correctness'.........defined

I never understood the regulations/qualifications of the cars, I mean they are so tight that the cars vary from a couple of mph, where is the fun in that?
Where are the import drag racing fans?:D -
To be fair, that's called racing. It's usually a matter of seconds, even in Formula One and they have no limits on horsepower. It's the same for your import drag racing too.Political Correctness'.........defined

Damn! Sorry I started this thread. Maybe I should have stated one on a less controversial subject, like speaker wire or religion!

Joe,
Just some friendly ribbing. I love all forms of auto racing and I'm pretty sure Doro does too. I do think Nascar needs to realize that it's ok to race in the rain though.
I'll take Jeff Gordon.Political Correctness'.........defined

did any1 see the guy withOUT a parachute?

I prefer Formula One myself. NASCAR doesn't interest me at all. Why would you still want to run old-tech pushrod engines with carburetors (and restrictor plates!) in a big circle?
I like the sounds of engines turning 18,000-19,000 rpm and producing 800-900 bhp. F1 cars can pull 5g stops, make 3.5g turns, and accelerate from 0-125mph in 5 seconds. Im looking for Kimi Räikkönen to win the drivers championship this year.
Back to NASCAR: I heard that Bobby Lebonte #18 is carrying an ad for Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" on his hood. Cool. -
Actually, a F1 car will do 0-100 in 3.4 seconds and then 100-0 in 3.2 seconds!!!
I'm pulling for JPM and Williams.Political Correctness'.........defined

Hiya F1nut,
I got those acceleration numbers from the Jan04 F1 Racing magazine about the BMW FW25. These cars are *kickin'*!
I think that JPM is a great driver; he's aggressive and a little too much of a cocky cowboy (caballero?) for me though. -
Petrym,
Cool, I don't remember were I got my numbers, but I know it was a F1 source. Either way it's damn fast!
Nothing wrong with the Iceman, great driver. I'm hoping for a good year of close racing. Have you been to a race? I'm dying to get back to one and have my eardrums rattle somemore.Political Correctness'.........defined

F1nut,
Nope, haven't been to a race yet. My daughter and I only have been following F1 since last season. She's going on a student ambassador program this year to Spain, Monaco, and Italy. Yes, I knew that the Monaco name would pop out at you. I don't know what they are going to do there but the race was mentioned in the brochure. Are you going to Montreal/Indianapolis this year?
My brother went to Indy this last year and loved it. He said it was really loud and the differing engines notes at the beginning of the race really racked the ear. He was at the end of the starting straight just before turn one. I did a set of calculations that analyze the engines notes at 19,100 rpm (BMW) approaching and receding at 310 kph if you're interested. We can prob continue this off the board: petrymATmsnDOTcom
My Prediction for Daytona: Dale Earnhart Jr.
