How about $800. That is what I charge for my basic mod plus the zero feedback fully balanced fet output stage for the 105 or 105D. Just had a customer get one and he loves it. Another $1000 in other advanced mods (linear power supply, low jitter clock, Audio Magic Pulse Gen ZX and more WA Quantum dots, etc.) brings even more to the table. Serious high end sound.
intriguing . . . .

For that money you could just buy a serious high end SACD/Cd player to start with.Political Correctness'.........defined

And your probably right Jesse but I can say, I am real happy with the purchase of my 105D I bought it for Blu Ray play back first, then CD and SACD Play Back. I can't say how much better it would sound with said modifications but could only imagine. That being said I would much rather put that $800 towards the new Maranatz SACD player just to compare it to the 105D.Home Theater

Interesting you brought that up. Some guy at SH posted the other week that he returned his new Oppo (not the D version) after listening to the Marantz. Obviously, it was just for music.
You know as popular as the 103/105's are I've yet to see/hear one
What do you think of that Darby feature?Political Correctness'.........defined

I love my 105D but would never spend over a G upgrading it. My tube preamp thickens it up nicely already.

As long as your running it at levels that enhance the viewing, awesome the wife is impressed, if you get to crazy the viewing can look somewhat unreal.Home Theater

So it is adjustable? Interesting.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have an OPPO-105D with full EVS mods for about 6 weeks. I previously had the OPPO-95 with Modwright solid state mods. Prior to that I owned a succession of several highly rated CD players. My system is player-based for CD/SACD 2-channel only in a dedicated sound room.
After 300+ hours of burn-in and replacing the steel cover with Ric's MDF cover, I can easily state that this player is the best and most musical sounding of any player I have had over the last 22 years. It excels in every parameter.
The Modwright OPPO-95 was good sounding, but cost a third of the price and did not have that palpable sophisticated sound of the 105. -
Why not just put Dynamat extreme on the cover?

So it is adjustable? Interesting.
I believe the Darby feature is even more adjustable on the Oppo units than the Darby Darblet, as I recall. If you're looking at one for an HT rig and running HDMI, the 103D would do the job. Think you would want the 105D for analogue. And the bigger your screen, the more you'll like the D versions I've read. I have just the 103, buying before the D model introduction, but for $100 more I'd definitely grab a D unit today. Here's one of the best lines I've read onlne...
"If you don't overcook it, its quite enjoyable, especially on a large screen..." -
I also bought my 103 right after they were released. Although the 103D would be nice, I just don't think I'd see any difference if I was to buy one, since I'm running a 22" Vizeo LCD tv.

Would love to see what the 103D can do for me over the PS3 for 73".2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2

Oooo, I bet that would be a purdy picture on a 73" screen...... -
Why not just put Dynamat extreme on the cover?
I didn't change the cover for vibration/sound dampening. Steel covers don't belong on high-end audio equipment due to their negative interaction with the internal components. Removal of the cover opened the sound noticeably.
