Pioneer HPM 100 experiment with sub amp

Just wanted to say I hope I chose the right section.

A few years back I went HPM crazy, eventually purchased 2 pairs of HPM 100s and decided to stack them on top of each other.
Although they sounded good, I found I prefered a single pair.

Generally I find the tweeters a bit harsh but with the right amp, there is definite synergy and they become a detailed rock speaker.

Fast forward, I was at a local vintage audio garage sale and picked up two paradigm PS1000 V4 subs for 50 bucks with blown woofers. I believe the amps put out 250rms with 750 peak watts. Disassembled the amp and ran it into the hpm 100 at a very low volume.

The plan, I want to stack the hpm with the 100w version on top running full range and the 200w versions running off of a sub amp each.
Is this took risky? Am I going to fry the HPM? Should I purchase a cheap couple of car subs and try them out?
If I keep the dial low on the input is there still a high risk of way too many watts going to the speakers?

Anyways, it seems my living room is ever changing between amps, speakers, cables and subs but the polk sda always stay because they have a unique sound.

Thanks for any advice

What will you be powering them with now/when you do ? That may help others who chime in.. I just picked up a pair a couple of weeks ago & im not using a sub & they sound pretty good. Ive only spent probably 6-8 hours listening to them. With the way i have them-they seem to be ok-to my ears. I can adjust the bass & there is plenty of dial left. I have them off the floor 12 inches (couldnt imagine 2 high:) I am really looking forward to more listening from them. I have no idea which ones i have-or-what their wattage is LOL all i know is as soon as i listened to them-they were going to stay & price was helpful. Not sure i helped on your question. But the tweeters on these seem to be very pleasing to my ears & not too fatiguing @ lite listening levels

    Thanks for the reply boston.

I would be powering the top pair with a hitachi hma 6500 and the bottom pair each speaker would be powered by the subwoofer amplifier from the paradigm ps 1000... 250 rms/750 peak to each bottom speaker.

They do have a unique sound that I initially hated but grew to like them quite a bit, very dynamic sounding.

I just thought of maybe I could place an quick acting fuse in line with each speaker.

P=VI so if I wanted the fuse to engage at 200watts that would be a 16.5 amp fuse assuming the voltage it is putting out is 12V.
Now I just need to figure out what the voltage output of the amplifier is? Does voltage change with increased output or current or both?
    Is my thinking correct here?

Any recommendations? I believe the speaker impedence is 8 Ohms.

    Thanks
