Hello All,
I have found two different SVS Subs. A PB-12 Plus/2 and a PB-12 NSD w/ Sledge Amp. I can get the Plus/2 for $500-$550 and the NSD w/ Sledge Amp for $550-$600 (ranges due to negotiations). What are the pros/cons of each? I listen to a multitude of electronic music genres, but also watch blurays. I love a sub that can dig deeeeep. I've heard the PB-12 Plus/2 and loved it, but wasn't sure regarding the NSD w/ sledge amp. I was told the NSD is still under warranty and purchased a few months ago. Obviously the Plus/2 is far from new, but I can possibly get it even cheaper than the ranges posted. Please let me know if you have any (accurate) info regarding these two. All help is greatly appreciated! :D

I'd go with the Plus/2. Better drivers, more powerful amp...

    Velocitydreamer,

You already heard the PB-12 Plus/2 and it floated your boat. If you have the space, get the larger sub. There is tons of info on these subs at AVSforums.

PB-12 Plus/2 - older and better, just depreciated more due to the generation of model
PB-12 NSD w/ Sledge Amp - newer amp with better dsp, not as old generation wise so not as depreciated, wont dig as deep.

    PB-12 Plus/2 all day long.

Thanks guys!! I always appreciate the advice. I wish this forum had some sort of recognition system :) Some of you give good advice more often than others. IF my buddy is available (has the truck) tonight, I'm going to pick up the PB12 Plus/2 tonight! There's chances for rains though :-/ I want to get it before it's nabbed up (they go quick down here), so I'm wondering if there are any large enough garbage bags to cover it in the bed. My buddy probably has a tarp and straps. The guy wants it gone, and I'm pretty darn sure it isn't going to fit in any car (my Mirage BPS-400 was slightly smaller and could hardly fit in the only place in my ex's impala it'd fit lol).

Couldn't go tonight (friend with the truck can't do tonight), so I asked about tomorrow and no response -.- Let's hope the guy comes around. I've considered waiting for another one to pop up at a lower price, every once in a lllllong while they do. What do you guys think about $500 for the PB12 Plus/2? I know it's a great price compared to new, but it is also far from new. So against market value, what are your thoughts?

I'm looking at the photos... the woofers seem silver... does that mean it's an Ultra??

    I think $500 for a Plus/2 is a steal. I wouldn't sell mine for that price.

If I recall correctly there were two or three different woofers in the Plus/2, so the silver will let you know which ones you got. There was a recent thread about it, so you might be able to do a search and find it. Very unlikely that it's an Ultra.

I believe them to be the 12.2 drivers.

Nice score Velocitydreamer!! Let us know when you get it... Did you get rid of your Rosewood RT3K? Or are they tucked away in a spare room.

Not Ultras. Plus drivers. Silver with no SVS logo are 12.1 versions, with the logo are newer 12.2's.

Going tonight to pick it up. I believe it may have the 12.1 drivers -__- hard to tell from the picture, but looks like the brighter silver, and can't seem to see an SVS logo. How much does it cost to upgrade? More than it's worth to bother?

Hey! I sold them to a Polkie down here who had a good offer to make. I was in need of quick, on the spot money at the time to move into a house, so I pretty much cleaned house (no pun intended). Sold the 5000 set, sold the SC-57, etc. Now I'm gonna just build a "pretty good" setup, as I've been itching to put money into my car I bought last year. Probably just gonna do a 7.1 with RT55 fronts & wides, fx500 sides, and cs400 center w/ the pb12 plus/2. Have a decent Onkyo lined up, and I plan to purchase a pretty good projector. So yeah, keeping it relatively modest (minus the sub/proj). I've just always liked the RT era, I've had and heard different ones (yet to hear LSi's), but the RT has kick a** bang for buck.

It still needed Amp Repair on one of the rt3000's, and a crossover replacement on the cs1000p due to a terminal having broken off before I purchased them. I liked the set, but if I were to ever get another set, it'd be black oak. I'll likely hold off on anything other than the setup described in my last post until I have a sizeable amount to invest. :P
