I have a Sunfire 2 processor that I am going to connect to a Sunfire Grand Theater amp. It has a RCA type connection and a XLR connection. What are the differences in sound quality between these types of connections.

The balanced XLR connection is great if you have an extra long run between the amp and pre-amp. The RCA inputs will do just fine for shorter runs. You will have a few extra Db input using the balanced cables, over RCA cables. Here is a thread that might answer some of your questions.

According to Bob... no difference at all, especially on a short run. Of course, Bob thinks 16G lamp cord and MIT speaker cables sounds the same as well. The Gear... I was looking at the owner's manual on line for the Sunfire grand theater processor on line, it said if you are able to connect the xlr
cables to your amp, which is a Sunfire, you will get better sound quality. Maybe someone else is writing the owners manual. The
Sunfire amp I am using is your old one you had autographed by Bob. I also have your modded SRS 1.2 tl's I enjoy very much. I hope to meet Mr. Carver some day, maybe he can autograph my Sunfire processor.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

If your close to Jesse (F1Nut), or George Daniel maybe see if they would take your processor down to Carverfest and have it signed. I think Bob will be there this year, but haven't been following too closely..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
