I just found out that the Allman Brothers are issuing a 6 CD box set, The 1971 Fillmore Recordings, which will contain the complete final 2 shows of their amazing Fillmore concerts (unfortunately no tape exists for the first night). It will be released on July 29 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon. There will also be an lp and DVD release.
It looks good and I may have to get it. Has anyone heard about it? What do you think?

It's everything that is available.Warts and all from what I hear so some may not be stellar cuts but at least it's the whole set of tapes.

I had a look at the track listing by CD and I gotta say, owning "The Fillmore Concerts" cd and "Live at the Fillmore East" SACD, I don't think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this.
How many versions of "Statesboro Blues", or "Whipping Post" or "Trouble No More" do I need? Tom Dowd picked what he thought were the best versions, or combined several versions (You Don't Love) into one to make the definitive cuts. I'd like to hear the alternate versions, but not enough to buy the set."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
I'll wait to pull the trigger until I read some reviews.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Yes. Recently there was a Humble Pie Fillmore release of basically the same songs over multiple nights when they played there. I bought it, but only listened to one CD. These releases are more for the hard-core fan who wants every note ever played by the band.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -
Some time ago, maybe 10 years, a double cd was released with all the remaining Fillmore performances. I have that copy and I would go look at and give a few more details but unfortunetly I not at home right now. If I remember correctly the songs weren't a whole lot different than the ones off the initial album. There might be some differences but not enough to warrant the purchase.Decware CSP3 Preamp, RCA 6DJ8, 2 X Rocket 6N1P-EV's, Cary SLA70B Signature V2 Amplifier: 2 X Mullard GZ32's, 2 X RCA/GE 5691's, 4 X Tung-Sol 6550's
