I certainly hope he is taking all this as it was meant, helpful info, not put downs.

I just hate to see young people go in directions that end up limiting them in the future. After all, we wouldn't let him buy a bose system now would we?

So far it seems we are probably as negative as his parents would be. Maybe even worse! There are reasons though which I hope he sees...

    From a gumpy old guy....just ask Doro...lol.

You're 17 and you live at home, don't piss off the folks that wiped your ****. At least talk to your parents about it first. They may or may not like the idea, but at least you will have given them the respect they deserve. Personally, I think you should wait until you move out and have a better understanding of how things work in the real world and how you will be perceived by others.

Another thought...if you really want to be different these days, get a nice haircut, dress sharp and pull up your pants.

I’m glad that I never did the tattoo or the body piercing. Did the low rider pants thing for a while it’s really comfortable.
Wish I was a polkologist then I could call my self Dr.warviper.

    Polkoholic,

Please accept my apology for my comment on your grooming and dress style.......the perception thing, you see.

When I was your age I did a number of things against my parents wishes. It created some hard feelings that I wish never happened. There is nothing, I repeat nothing more important in this world than family and a good relationship with them. Fortunately we got past all that and have enjoyed a good relationship for many years.

BTW, good to hear you shower daily...lol.

What are you trying to express with the eyebrow ring?

I agree with telling your parents first, do you think they will respect you more if you tell them first or if you just go and do this and announce it as you bounce into the house?
