I recently picked up a kenwood kd-2000 turntable in really good shape, but it is missing the anti-skate weight. my question is can I use the table without the weight if I track at maybe 3 grams, and/or does anyone happen to know where I may be able to locate one? thank you.

you can fabricate your own makeshift weight with fishing line and a lead sinker. Try different weights to see what works best....YMMV.
I did it once on an older Kenwood and it worked fine.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer. -
That is about all there is to my "Pro-ject" Carbon TT ani-skate. just a little black bead hooked to fishing line.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

... or just go without. Seriously.

What I wouldn't do is track at 3 grams unless you have a cartridge designed for that weight. Too much weight wears out the stylus and your records quicker. Check Ebay for turntable anti-skate weights. You may even find an original. Good luck!!SDA-1C (full mods)
