Monitor 5 jrs

I want to rebuild a pair of Monitor 5 Jr's. Can someone tell me the best caps and any other parts I should replace. Thanks!

    I also have a line on another pair of 5 jrs for $75.00. Is that a good price?

    $75 is definitely a good price so long as they are working and in descent shape .I've seen them go from around 100-180 I know it's a price difference but it depends on the condition they are in. If your looking for some then definitely pick them up.

    Most people on the forum use Clarity , Sonicap, and Dayton capacitors and either Mills or Mundorf resistors.

    Turns out they are Monitor 5's. How much is there between the 5's and the 5 jrs.?

    There is not much difference between the 5's & 5Jr's. The 5's are slightly bigger w a slightly bigger passive woofer & so it adds a lil more bass.

    Go up about 4 or 5 posts to the stickies at the top of this sub-forum. You will see a wiring and crossover schematic post for non-SDAs.

    Great little bookies. Have 2 pair for ht system. Recaped with clairty SA caps, they are very surprising sound quality. At tjat price grab them fast.

    Picked these up for $50 about 6 months ago. In original boxes and pristine. A little cleaning and a crossover rebuild. I think you will be quite happy with them.

    you might try Madisound, I just click on contact and told them what my Monitor 4's had for caps and he wrote back with 3 suggestions for each, I went with the ClarityCap px's capacitors for my M4's.

    I picked up the Monitor 5's and they sound wonderful! Best $75.00 ever spent on speakers.

    I found another guy in Allentown, PA selling a pair of JR's for $30.00. He says one tweeter has an issue, but the cabinets are fine and there's no mold or mildew. I have 4 L2000's from when I rebuilt my SDA 1c's, so I'm thinking I can use them.
