"Jumpers" for SDA SRS 1.2TL's?

Just brought home a pair of 1.2TL's after a 48 hour, 2100 mile trip to pick them up. I was told I needed to get some "jumpers" before hooking everything up. Red to red, black to black, etc. Original "jumpers" are gone- what would serve as a replacement? Thanks in advance for your help-

Any short length of speaker wire you have handy will work just fine.

Did you get an SDA cable with them as well? You'll also need that.

As stated, any piece of speaker cable will get you going. Later, get some high quality speaker cable to make your own or buy some of the pre-made jumpers.

Thanks for the info. The interconnect cable was included- looks like a "pin/blade" setup that I've heard about before. The wife wants them out of sight in the basement, but I was "too tired" to move them further than our great room today. The game continues . . .

So I hooked up the jumpers red to red, black to black. Then hooked up to the amp using the lower reds and blacks according to the diagram on the back of the speakers. Turned them on but only got sound out of the left speaker. Played with the balance knob with no audible result- same with bass and treble. The left speaker played both channels- it wasn't like I was missing a vocal or guitar. Switched to the "B" speaker set on the amp with same results. Should I switch the left and right speaker wires at the amp to see if sound will come out of the right speaker? Will appreciate suggestions . . do not have an owners manual. Hoping I've got something misconnected rather than a dead speaker.

Remove the front panel, behind it you will find the crossover. Do not remove the center bolt. Inspect for a loose connection coming from the binding post plate.

Dood, you didn't make a 48-hour trip to pick up a pair of speakers without hearing that they work to your liking first.........did you?

If so, I hope they had a REALLY good price.

    Read.
    The SDA Handbook.
    http://vr3mods.com/uploads/SDA_Handbook_2011_Rev2.pdf

Okay the reason for the "jumper wires" on each speaker
Red to Red and Black to Black is that when you hook up your "single" wire to
the red one to the red one (either one since it is jumped) on the speaker
    and
the black one to the black one (either one since it is jumped) on the speaker
it will play the mid speakers "and" the tweeters.
If you don't use any jumpers only the mid "or" the tweeters will play
depending on which red and black pair lower/upper ones the you use.
If both left or right speakers do not play "DO NOT" Hookup the Blade/pin SDA Interconnect
till you determine your main problem.

What amp did you hook them up to? Do you even common ground, bro? Sorry...bad reference to weight lifting. But seriously, are you using a common ground amp? And if not then an AI1 or Dreadnought isolation transformer?

Too many unknowns her to offer help. Pictures please and a description of the amp you are using. Jesse is spot on in his suggestion of looking at the crossovers to start with.

He needs to be careful with the crossovers if he is just learning of the use of jumper wires.

I appreciate all the help and info! I took the crossover panel out -carefully- and inspected for bad things. Since I had no idea what I was looking for, I found nothing. No mouse **** or chewed wires. I did take pictures of the crossover, the inside of the back panel, and my wire connections. As soon as I figure out how to post a picture I will do so. I'm using a Yamaha receiver for now- RX 797. I was told by a Polkie recently that 95% of amps are now "common ground"- and I thought those odds were good enough. I might be wrong. Once again I am very appreciative for everyone's assistance.

First pic shows that the top left post has been replaced.

Third pic shows someone was messing around with the posts and the SDA connection.

Previous owner said he did replace the "top left post" on the right speaker but that it worked perfectly. Am I doing something wrong or inefficient in the external wire hookups? Do the jumpers look OK (if amateurish)?

Did some troubleshooting with the previous owner. Turns out my receiver's right channel takes a while to "warm up" before sending sound down the wire. I know that's NOT how it should work and I'll address that, but the speakers sounded glorious after the "warm up." Listened to Ronstadt's "Hasten Down the Wind" and some von Karajan. Another thread with a happy ending!

did Polk use coloured bands on the wiring coming off the connector on the top left, I'm assuming that leads to the tweeter array ?

    Yes and yes.

    You just realized that?

Yup. When this issue first came up 2 years ago I thought one of my 22 year old RTA 15t's was simply failing. The Yamaha was new and not my prime suspect. I pretty much stopped listening to my system and started looking to buy a pair of the 1.2TL's. I'll be picking up a slightly used (and heavily depreciated) Yamaha A-S2000 this weekend. Gotta make up for lost time now . . .
