This is about people who live around or above the arctic circle, not as a part of a corporate or govt. settlement or whatever, as hard as that would even be, I mean folks who bring their own food and heat to live.
One lady "Sue Akins" lives a couple hundred miles above the arctic circle, let me repeat, she lives, on her own for the most part, 200 miles above the arctic circle.
One day she wakes up to realise she had been attacked by a polar bear, dislocating both hips, and lets just say that was the least of the damage.
There was no cell service, no 911, and she is still out there years later in a hunting camp she owns that looks suspiciously like the camp in the Kurt Russell movie, "The Thing"
there also native couples who bring seal carcasses into their kitchens to butcher with their kids, and so many others.
Fascinating

I enjoy the show. Also watch out for "Mountain Men" on History. The new season starts Sunday. They all live off the land, few are able to do that anymore.

Deb and i started out loving Mountain men.
it began to repeat storylines, like life below zero, but we still loved the cinematography, the visuals, in HD, even out in the boonies were staggeringly beautiful, even if the storys began to be quite suspect, or set up.humpty dumpty was pushed -

That woman Sue has got to be one of the toughest people anywhere. I really like the episode where she was running out of diesel fuel and Avgas. She had to take out a little bulldozer in 40 degree below zero weather and create a runway on the ice so a huge plane could land. And she is so far from any civilization that the plane only had enough fuel to take one attempt at landing. So the "runway" had to be right the first time. No landing, no fuel for any of her customers, and no heating oil for her.
What a tough existence.
And did you see the Arctic Snow Fox she has as a pet? -

We watch all the shows mentioned above. They all tend to repeat their messages though but it's still worth the time to watch them. The views are part of the reason we watch but of course, TV is nothing like the real thing. If you have a bucket list and have never been to the wilds of Alaska you owe it to yourself to add that.Yep, my name really is Bob.

Yep watch both these shows. Another one is Alaska The Last Frontier, with the Kilcher's. That is where Jewel grew up and those are her Dad and Brother's and Uncle's and Cousin's living on the Kilcher Homestead.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
