Maya Angelou is best known for her memoir, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." She has written novels and poems. The two main themes of her work are racism and spirituality. She was also active in the Civil Rights movement.

I sell used and rare books online as a p/t business and had 2 books signed by Maya Angelou. I have had them for sale since I bought them 2 years ago. I could not sell them for anything but I sold both this morning, which proves the point that everyone wants an author's books when an author dies or wins a famous prize (it was the same when Mario Vargas Llosa won the Nobel Prize a few years ago. I could not sell any of his books prior to his winning the prize but sold 4 of his books the day it was announced he won the Nobel Prize for Literature. And I have not been able to sell any of his books since that time, ha).

In other words, life is strange, if I may.

By the way, To sell used books is, I dont know how to describe, a book can, CAN, say so much more than any other media, CAN, and it does not even have to be true, just take me somewhere, tell me a story.

God bless, and no matter how it really is in real life,no matter how close to reality, thank you for that image i have of a used book seller, I know you arent in a little cinder block building waiting for someone to stop in and find a revelation, but you will do.

She met MLK one day and said you don't have a west coast rep for the Southern Cristian Leadership Conference and he pointed at her and said "we do now." Her life was amazing with so many eclectic accomplishments. She also had a tv show with her co-host Alvin Ailey when they were both very young.
