I recently bought a pair of SDA SRS 2 towers in MINT condition for $650 and was wondering what people's opinions are on the SDA SRS 2. Ive read that the SDAs are just something you have to experience. And so I got some. My other question is whether or not my amp will be able to power it-factoring in the impedance drops. I have a QSC GX7-should this do the job perfectly with some headroom?

The SRS 2 is a great speaker. You should be good to go with the QSC amp. Enjoy!

Maybe some Peavy's would be a better match with that pro amp.

WHICH SRS 2? There are two versions. Early version is in essence a larger SDA 1B. Later version is a larger SDA 1C. The easy way to tell the difference is to look at the interconnect cable--is it blade/blade (early) or pin-blade (late)?

Folks hardly ever specify which version they have unless pressed. Especially when advertising them for sale.

Either way, they're terrific speakers; but the pin/blade later units are easier to drive. The blade/blade version MUST have a common-ground amplifier, the pin/blade can use an AI-1 or aftermarket equivalent, and therefore the common-ground requirement doesn't apply.

A search will reveal considerable info on modifying the early version.

Be sure and download the SDA Handbook to find out more about what you have.

I have the blade/blade version of the SRS 2 speakers that have been modified and tweaked to the max and are wonderful. With the Sunfire amp I have them hooked up to, they are a perfect match. They are well worth doing the rebuild and mods.

I agree, a class d or class h amp should be used to drive a sub only.....
It would be much smoother with a class A A/B amp

I have a pair of the blade/blade SRS 2s and love them. I have not modded them (other than the tweeters) but hope to some day.
