MM vs. DB 6501
Hi, i have a 2001 f150 supercab and am considering getting the db6501. I see there are mm6501. is there a significant difference in sound? And if so, which speakers would be the best for my truck? Also, if there are any better sounding speakers, which ones would they be? ALSO, if i get these i will be getting the bracket to convert 6x8 to 6.5. Also i will be custom building the mounting of the tweeters in the a-pillars. Do these sets come with mounting hardware? If not, can drill a hole in the plastic and flush mount the tweeters without the hardware?

Well, I do not know anything about Polk Car speakers, but generally speaking, they come with all the mounting hardware but you must be ready to drill a few holes for the tweeters, unless you already have tweeters in your truck (or that your model could have tweeters and has a "cavity" for them).
That being said, the MM series is on the higher-end, while the DB is the low-end of Polk speakers. The DB might not be bad considering the price, but the MM might be better. If you could find them on sale, you should get the MM.
However, the kind of "difference" in sound will vary and is dependant on external amplification. I had some Infinity Reference (lower-end) components and they weren't as good as their higher end Kappa series, which my friend had. Without amplification, the difference wasn't that impressive but still, I do think I should have bought the Kappa series, especially when you consider that you can buy car component speakers at a discounted price almost everywhere so there could be a $20 or $30 difference between both series.
So, external amplification or only your car radio?Speakers: Polk Audio LSiM 705, LSiM 703, LSiM 704c
Receiver: Denon X3500H
