My first Amp

I have a Marantz 7008 and I'm thinking about getting a 2 channel amp for when I'm using the Marantz for 2 channel listening. I use my system for TV, Movies, LP's, DVD's SACD's and streaming FLAC. I use the 7008 for everything so it could be on maybe 6-8 hours a day on the weekends. So my question is if I have an external amp that has to be on this amount of time will this hurt anything? Are external amp's designed to be on this long? I know they get hot. I Think I'm going with the Parasound A21 or A31.

I leave my B&K amp on all the time unless there's a storm.

My Parasound is usually on for at least 10 hours a day, many days it is up to 18 as I am an insomniac.

It will be fine but keep in mind heat drys out capacitors so get the amp checked about every 10 yrs.
A well designed amp will have some spacing between driver transistors and caps. Those that don't will fail quicker.
I would presume a Parasound amp would be well designed and reliable. With some multichannel amps, the designer doesn't have the space to keep these clearances.

Now I'm reading about unbalanced and balanced connections. I can only use RCA unbalanced connection to my Marantz. The say you can get some hum or buzz with an unbalanced connection. How common is this and is there a way to fix it if it happens?

I'd hate to get something like this and not be able to live with a hum or buzz because I don't have a pre-amp!

You should be fine with the RCA's. Never heard of buzz coming from using RCA's myself. Get a decent set of IC's and your golden.

I have an AVR, three amps, two mono blocks and a three channel amp, all RCA cables; Emotiva and Monoprice cables, narry a hum.

There are many from Monoprice, this I've found to be "decent"

I use two six foot cables for my mono blocks and a 25'er for one of my subs, I have no complaints and no problems, and the price........priceless :)
