tico & tarantula "Tarantism", the cruzados, and "From dusk till dawn"

Picked up a cd of tarantism along with zeps hoh and something else the other day at big frog music in blue ridge ga. the other day in exchange for some old vinyl i never play.

I had recently learned how much i love the songs that, somehow for 37 years had been, unbeknownst to me, on Houses of the Holy,

Probably the only zep effort I had never become even casually acquainted with, even though i had known well many of its singles.

So i have been getting wll acquainted with this cd.

I bought the tarantism cd because of the song "After Dark" song from the movie mentioned above with clooney, tarantino, cheech marin, and................Selma Hayek as a stripper who never has to remove her top or bottom to steal any show.

The song and band were exceptional, and I knew the lead singer from the cruzados being active and around before, although i never got into them personally.

Anyway, the last 3 days i have let the cd play past the first song, and i am very glad i bought it, its a hidden gem some songs are SRV like, most are distinctly their own, the last three are a sweeter sounding change from the very moody, darker sound earlier in the cd.

If you wonder about the regard this few selling effort is held in, look up the prices on the few new copys left, 60 bucks is about common for a standard cd, not sacd.

The used are in the 10 buck range, I would urge you to check them out, I will be doing just that with the Cruzados, the band some of the memebers were in before this, may be well worth the effort.

Are they in the same vein as these guys?

They seemed like poprock or "safe song type stuff", not that theres anything wrong with that, i liked their efforts then, but these guys seem bad ****, a little dangerous in a real good way.

Perhaps less edge, but latin influenced rock

I mean really, not only the songwriting, but he pickin, singin, and on top of it all, it really is weel produced.

Pretty badass if you ask me.
