First of all, what is 'base'? A small platform? Are we talking baseball?

Second, not sure where the good Doc is, but why don't you make a few MORE new posts - then he might magically appear.

I think if you build a sub you should follow tried and true methods described by others. Infinite baffle, acoustic suspension, vented. I think your idea might provide questionable or unsatisfactory results. I try not to reinvent the wheel when it comes to bass.

My next project will be a dipole sub for an upstairs 2 channel rig. Won't cost much to build and it will be cool. Will be using the Adire dipole drivers - really sharp looking.

I checked out the Adire site once. The dipole driver with passive radiator reference design looked sweet. Doc, any pointers to a site to interpret what the various F3, F8,... numbers mean?

Pretty broke at the moment but hopefully by the time I understand this stuff... ;)

Here are some quick definitions of some T/S spec: http://www.mmxpress.com/technical/terms.htm

A good book is The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook by Vance Dickason and another website is www.diysubwoofers.org

    Hope this helps Dave

Something along these lines, but in a nice wood finish. It should get to 40 Hz in a small room, with unparalleled SQ. Thinking about pairing the dipole up with some of those $500 Maggies and my high current h/k 870 amp for a cool 2 channel music rig.

I'm looking for help. My home system is on the showcase. I'm working a 303 sub off of my RTI8 mains with a Csi3 and RTi4's in the back. Currently, I also have a 202 working with the 4's in the back, sounds pretty good, but some feedback suggested "stacking" the 202 with the 303. How do you stack ???, Other feedback, suggested I would be better without the 202 on line, others said ask Dr. Spec. Overall my bass response is good, but we all want better. Any thoughts on the 202 utilization. Thanks.......

use your sub out and run it to the 2 subs and set all speakers to small. and set subs next to each other or one on top of the other.

I think you will like them alot. But were it to work out that a pair of 1.5's or 1.6's were around, for only a couple hundred more you'd be extra wowed...

I assume you have heard Maggies.
    More later,

No, that's why I want a pair. They have a new model for only $300/pr. That's a pretty small risk. It's getting pretty rave reviews over at AVS. I'm sure they won't disappoint......
